<rant>

Well, obviously I meant the end of *this* week…duh!

I think saying that it’s been a bad couple of weeks is a bit of an understatement. The boy is now on overtime at work, which involves doing at least 2 extra days per week, At the moment this consists of working all week and then all weekend too, but I think he may try to switch to doing an extra days worth during two evenings and having one weekend day off. It’s mostly annoying because there are lots of things that have been on/are going on that we would like to go to and can’t because of his stupid work! This will also being going on during and past my birthday, so yay.

But mainly, I’m now looking for a new job. After being promised a review and raise at 6 and 12 months at my original interview I took the job. Due to circumstances between my bosses (namely a messy divorce and one of them being forced to leave the company) the 6 month review/raise was put off. I was sort of OK with this as I was continually promised a raise with back-pay as soon as Julie was gone. Julie left…still no raise. Months pass….still no raise. Then I start being told that my pay will go up to about 15 grand a year…woohoo, right? Should be effective as of the 1st Feburary but no back-pay….annoying but I’m OK with it, as long as it goes up that much, which, to be honest, I would have expected as a starting salary for a graduate in the right field. So February rolls around, and, lo and behold, I’ve been given more money!………£50 a month. Bringing my yearly wage up to a grand total of £12700….FUCK YOU. 

Needless to say I was already ridiculously pissed off with this charade which seemed to have been designed only to make me stick around for nothing.

Now, I don’t really get on with my boss. Mostly because he makes it abundantly clear he does not like me, respect me or think that I should be doing the job that I am purely because I am female. It’s at the point now where he just does not acknowledge my existence any more, which is kind of difficult when everyone is in an office about 10 square feet.

Tuesday I was supposed to have a meeting with a client. Rich, my team lead I suppose you would call him, was also supposed to be in this meeting but had to do something else, so was coming in late. That was fine, I said I’d take it myself. So the client turns up, and Steve (the bastard boss) completely takes over, before I have a chance to even get up and say hi. He calls me over like some kind of secretary who is only there to take notes and hijacks the whole thing, making awful design decisions and pushing the client to agree, then making the changes there and then so that I can’t really go back on them later. I didn’t even get introduced.

Why, when you have absolutely no knowledge of how to design a website, would you pretend that you do?! Why try to be a designer when all you’re good at is being a businessman? He couldn’t even spell the word ‘Jerk’ without asking….I mean, given the fact he is one, would make you think he could at least spell it!

I was not in a good mood the rest of that day and this ended in Rich taking me into one of the other offices and me yelling and venting for an hour. Luckily, he agreed with me on everything I said, and said he wouldn’t blame me for looking for something else.

The problem with this being that there are absolutely zero jobs around here that I can do. So now I’m completely stuck. I had a lot of plans for that extra money that were supposed to get my life moving a bit. Now they’re completely unattainable and I’m going nowhere. All the while I have to listen to Steve talk about all the things he’s spending loads of money on…money he’s making out of my work.
